HANJAPA
What's a "HANJAPA"?
To put it simply, "Hanjapa" are half Japanese, half something else. We are seen as 変な日本人 because we have lived abroad, and we just have that foriegn influence. We are not fully Japapnese, or fully that other something. And because we are in this in-between place, the stuff that we do seems weird to others and vice versa.

A Day in HARAJUKU / SHIBUYA
1. HARAJUKU STATION 原宿駅 (A)
Image from:駅wiki |
As always, crowded with tourists and young locals...
2. DOTOUR Coffee Shop (B)
Looking for Starbucks? ...Try DOTOUR.
This Dotour is surprisingly quiet for it being on such a busy street. The second floor counter seats are great for people watching. You can enjoy a light meal (great sandwiches!), an afternoon coffee break, or like us, both!
We had "Milano sando* C", pumpkin tart, and tea!
*"sando" is short for sandwhich, pronounced "sando-which" in Japanese.
Crisp on the outside, soft in the inside, traditional and arranged takoyaki can be bought here. (What is takoyaki? Follow this link.)
We had the "pizza-style" takoyaki! mmm.
4. Leaving Harajuku, heading to Shibuya...
Quiet peaceful streets along the Yamanote line :)
4. mocha (c)
A cozy shop we found selling cute clothes, accessories, and shoes. Highly recommended for fans of stores like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie.
This is our new favorite shop in Shibuya!
Going further along Meiji-dori(street) heading towards Shibuya, there are some more interesting shops...
Look for,
Clothing stores:
ROSE BUD, TOMORROWLAND, DIESEL Concept Store
Places to eat:
Tenya てんや - Delicious & cheap "Tendon" (Tempura on rice)!
Tonkatsu Wako 和光 - Crispy "Tonkatsu" (Pork cutlets)! Extra servings of cabbage and rice are free.
5. BUNKYODO 文教堂 (E)
Consisting of 2 floors, this is probably the biggest book store closest to Shibuya station. There is a nice selection of magazines & books, and a small stationary section on the first floor.
6. BIC CAMERA (E)
This electronics shop has 5 floors, and it is always fun even just to look around.
The salespeople have extensive knowledge about the products and are usually very willing to help!
7. Ootoya 大戸屋 (F)
We love Ootoya like many other Japanese people for its wide selection of "Teishoku"(set meals) and reasonable prices.
This one is on the second floor of a building on Miyamasu-zaka 宮益坂.
8. SHIBUYA STATION 渋谷駅 (D)
This is where we end the day!バイバイ!
